Jacklyn

How to sum up the complexity that is me?  Hmm, where to start?  Well, I am a mom to 2 kids, Taylor who is almost 13 and Dakota who is 6.  Being a mother is a wonderful gift.  I am also a Wife to a wonderful Man.  I am blessed that God has given me such a great family!

I am 30 (*cough* something) and enjoying life.  Some days I feel older, and some days I feel younger.  I love photography, and have felt like I was being “pulled” to it my whole life, I also love babies, so getting the pleasure to photograph newborns, is like the best of both worlds.   I enjoy what I do, and because I do, it doesn’t feel like “work” when I go to work.

But, you probably want to know how I am without the camera.  Well, the thing that defines me most, is the fact that I believe in Jesus Christ as my lord and savior.  And, as such, I spend a lot of time giving back where I can.  I help with our Church (First Baptist of Palestine) youth group.  I feel that children (though they wouldn’t like me calling them children) of all ages are gifts and we can learn as much from them as they can from us.   At the end of the day, I feel so blessed when I look at all that God has given me.

So, outside of those 2 things, I’ll give you a few “odd pieces” of information about me.  The “trivial” kind.   My favorite TV shows are Grey’s Anatomy, Private Practice, American Idol, and Dancing with the stars.  I recently added Off the Map to that list.  I don’t get to watch all of these shows ever week, but I do take thursday evenings as my “met time” and watch Grey’s and private practice.  I’m addicted to Grey’s.  Before I was a photographer, I was a Nurse.  A Surgical Nurse, and I loved that.

Sometimes, people ask me:  ”where are you from?”  The answer is not an easy one.  I was born and raised in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.  When I was a sophomore in High School, my mom relocated us to Pittsburg, Texas.  I thought it was the end of the world.  I lived in that “area” until 4 years ago when I moved with my husband (who took a job here) to Palestine, Texas.

Most of all, I’m a compassionate person, who would “fix the whole world” if I had the chance, but instead, I will opt for changing lives, one photograph at a time!
